Tony “Roady” LaQuey

Cycling history:

Been riding mountain bikes since the early 90′s. I loved it when suspension forks came out. Did a few DORBA races way back then, but really didn’t keep up with the placing since it was more for fun.  Moved away from the mtb bike for a while for cross country motocross.  That’s when I got my first road bike, a fellow racer said it would get my endurance up and make me fitter.  It did.  Even though a major knee injury caused me to stop racing CCMC I never stopped riding my road bike.

Some road miles and mtb thrown in:

  • 2000-2005: Every rally 100k within a couple hours.  Around 8000 miles a year.  New road bike needed.
  • 2006-2008: Same as above, 3600 miles.  More off road miles.  Some DORBA races.
  • 2009: About 2000 miles.  Got sick, stayed sick (long story).  But I won the Clydesdale class DORBA series, nudging out Ben Wright.
  • 2010: Cat Claw Classic 21st in SS.  Butt was handed to me!  More to come…………
  • 2011: Been working the pits and volunteering where ever I can.  The heat and work took its toll this summer.  Working on getting back in race shape for the Frozen Series.
